Rena Morikawa is a protagonist of the Cardfight!! Vanguard ∀ series. She is a member of Team ∀ and its founder. She is the daughter of Katsumi Morikawa and the head of her schools vanguard club; using the Dark Irregulars clan. Her ace is Eclipser, Blade Wing Barbatos. She aims to become a national champion, and after being defeated by Akuto Kouji and his Chaos Incarnate clan, she vows to add him to her team.
Appearance[]
She has slightly spiky black hair tied in a ponytail that goes down to her waist and blue eyes. Rena favours a practical tomboyish look. Outside of her school uniform; she usually wears a short-sleeved Maroon jacket, white shirt, black shorts and a pair of black boots. She also wears a maroon cap and has a silver earring in both ears. Her deck case is strapped to her left thigh.
Personality[]
Rena has a serious, responsible and blunt demeanour. She puts all of her energy into everything she does and believes when one does something they should always do it to the best of their ability. She despises those who look down on others and show no respect. She is extremely confrontational, and looks to solve any and all disputes with a Cardfight. She has a deep love for vanguard and dreams of becoming a pro player.
History[]
Born to Katsumi Morikawa and an unknown woman, Rena grew up watching her father fumble at playing vanguard with his horribly unbalanced deck. She quickly learned to play the game and starting playing and winning on her fathers behalf. Eventually she got used to winning and came to expect it, even going so far as to believe no matter what she did she would win.
This winning streak caused her passion for the game to dwindle somewhat as she felt unchallenged, thus she decided to aim to be a pro Cardfighter, where she can battle legendary fighters like Kai Toshiki, Jamie Alcaraz, and Chrono Shindou. One day while at her schools vanguard club, Akuto Kouji arrived to return Riku Takagane's cards. On a whim she challenged Akuto to a game, seeing as he had taken some interest in the cards. Akuto's Chaos Incarnate deck completely wrecked Rena's strategy and she was dealt a resounding defeat. For the first time in years Rena felt a searing passion for the game and to improve her skills. She also recognised Akuto's talent and vows to add him to the team she will take to the regional and national tournaments.
Deck[]
Rena's original deck focused on gathering multiples copies of cards in the soul to fuel her skills. Her strategy was to set up the perfect move when the awakening skill of Eclipser, Blade Wing Barbatos could not be blocked to inflict huge damage.
